Tribute to Bruce Springsteen album complete

Hi!

With the completion of a further three songs; "My City of Ruins", "This Hard Land" and "Stolen Car" I have now finished the Springsteen cover album and all the songs have been uploaded to this site.

Yup, I do realise that I stole the "Lost Highway" title from Bon Jovi. However I think what is presented here is sounding quite coherently and starting the album with "Racing in The Start" and ending with "The Promise" just cries out for a title like that in my opinion.

For any cd copies (taken directly from the raw recordings) you can contact me directly.

Another Gadget....!

Another instrument to add to my collection.
I bought the Alesis Controlpad a few weeks ago. It's quite a nifty percussion controller and allows me to play the drum tracks live now, which is quite cool. Good value for around 100 quid.

Happy New Year!!! Happy 2008!! & Another Universe!

Happy New Year to everyone passing by!

Another "lost" album uploaded: "Another Universe". This time it's an experimental bunch of songs which I recorded back in 2002/2003. Some of the tracks are trance/dance influenced and others more mellow. You can check it out in the album/cd section.

There's a new play button next to each album so you can play each album by itself with the mp3 player.

More videos posted including 2 new songs!

See my YouTube channel or the music videos section here on the site for some new videos including the following;

"Cry To Heaven - Bat out of Hell Reprise" - Basically the same acoustic version on piano I recorded a few weeks ago.

"Traffic Cone Girl" - Song I wrote in 2002 and performed live a few times.

"Darkness on the Edge of Town" - Not the songs of Springsteen album version I'll be doing but merely a quick live version on guitar

"F*cking Drums" - A song I wrote as a joke when I was in a band back in 2003. The drummer came up with the chorus line and I just took it from there.

"It's all over now" - Brand new song I wrote over the past week. Basically about love breaking up but I guess it can be used as a metaphor for anything when you miss somebody so not necessarily pure love I think.

The songs of Jim Steinman & Cry to Heaven / Bat Reprise

Well after tinkering around on the piano a bit I ended up recording my version of "Cry to Heaven", a Jim Steinman song which appears on Meat Loaf's "Bat out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose" album. I added a few parts from the original "Bat out of Hell" song which I think fits quite well. So since I've got 4 Steinman tunes now it's probably only right to put them on a single album at some point. Although these are all ballads at this stage I do intend to record Steinman songs like "Out of The Frying Pan" and "Rock and Roll Dreams come Through". I'm still busy with the Springsteen songs, so it looks like that project will be finished early 2008, after which I will start work on my on bunch of songs again.

I should hopefully get round to completing the Steinman songs album in 2009!

So enough ideas to keep myself going musically in the mean time.

No Surrender

I've always liked this gorgeous song by Bruce Springsteen and for the last few years I'd been playing it on guitar now and then. Only a few days ago I had a go with this song on piano and thought it sounded good so I practiced it a few times and here is my version.
Next stop: "Darkness on The Edge of Town".

Destiny album uploaded

Just finished uploading the songs for "Destiny", a 7 track album containing material which I recorded during 2005-2006, though thought I had lost (well at least most of it).

You can check the songs out on the MP3 music player as usual and read all about it in the cds/albums section of the site. Some Steinman covers and other interesting stuff I think.

Currently I have a bad flu so I will rest at least a week or two before recording more stuff.

New songs, website changes and more....

Hi,

It's a been a while! Have been busy recording new songs for a Bruce Springsteen cover album. In the mean time I have also updated my MySpace page and made several changes on the site. There is a new and improved mp3 player where you can listen to my songs, an improved album section, the guestbook is gone as it is too 90s I think!, the other songs section proved useless with the new mp3 player so is gone too.

I am also planning on making the photo gallery and the studio section a bit more interesting. Oh and I will probably be uploading a mini album "Destiny" with some unreleased stuff I recorded during 2005 and 2006. It will also include my piano only version of "A Date with Destiny", which is now temporarily gone from the site. Check out a little taster of the artwork for the mini album.

New Versions of "left" and "poor man".....

Not much to report but some slight changes to these two songs, they've now been processed through a maximiser plug in, which is pretty cool cuz I thought the original mixes were a bit too soft. Also "Left" has a new vocal track now, as there were a few technical problems with the old one.
You might notice a few extra drum sounds during the musical climax in the middle of the song which I think were actually missing before.
The original songs have been replaced with the new files, so they are in the usual location.

Jukebox available and Nothing but a Merciless Night.....

Finally got round to making the jukebox available. You can get to it by clicking the little image in the top left hand corner of each page (it will open in a separate window). It's basically a little random playlist of all the songs I've posted on this site, but you might find it interesting to use as it will just keep on playing of course (until you close the window).

My rendition of "Left in the dark" has made it's way onto "Nothing but a Merciless Night II", which is the Jim Steinman Fan Appreciation Album of 2007 and features all kinds of contributions by fans/artists around the globe. Quite an honour for me to be on the album!
Hopefully Jim Steinman will have a listen to the album and my song!

Still working on more songs for "Thunder"...
