With the completion of a further three songs; "My City of Ruins", "This Hard Land" and "Stolen Car" I have now finished the Springsteen cover album and all the songs have been uploaded to this site. Yup, I do realise that I stole the "Lost Highway" title from Bon Jovi. However I think what is presented here is sounding quite coherently and starting the album with "Racing in The Start" and ending with "The Promise" just cries out for a title like that in my opinion. I bought the Alesis Controlpad a few weeks ago. It's quite a nifty percussion controller and allows me to play the drum tracks live now, which is quite cool. Good value for around 100 quid. "Traffic Cone Girl" - Song I wrote in 2002 and performed live a few times. "Darkness on the Edge of Town" - Not the songs of Springsteen album version I'll be doing but merely a quick live version on guitar "F*cking Drums" - A song I wrote as a joke when I was in a band back in 2003. The drummer came up with the chorus line and I just took it from there. "It's all over now" - Brand new song I wrote over the past week. Basically about love breaking up but I guess it can be used as a metaphor for anything when you miss somebody so not necessarily pure love I think. Peace, Andrew http://www.andrewnicholson.co.uk/news.php#27 http://www.andrewnicholson.co.uk/news.php#27 Tue, 06 Nov 2007 23:31:17 GMT Well after tinkering around on the piano a bit I ended up recording my version of "Cry to Heaven", a Jim Steinman song which appears on Meat Loaf's "Bat out of Hell III: The Monster is Loose" album. I added a few parts from the original "Bat out of Hell" song which I think fits quite well. So since I've got 4 Steinman tunes now it's probably only right to put them on a single album at some point. Although these are all ballads at this stage I do intend to record Steinman songs like "Out of The Frying Pan" and "Rock and Roll Dreams come Through". I'm still busy with the Springsteen songs, so it looks like that project will be finished early 2008, after which I will start work on my on bunch of songs again. I should hopefully get round to completing the Steinman songs album in 2009! So enough ideas to keep myself going musically in the mean time.
